Dennis Tänzler, Director of International Climate Policy at adelphi, summarises the focus of his future work in the field of conflict-sensitive adaptation. The challenge is to consider both adaptation and peacebuilding throughout the entire policy making process.
This interview was conducted at the Planetary Security Conference in The Hague, 5-6 December 2016. It is produced by Paul Müller-Hahl (Lichtbilder Filmproduktion) and directed by Stella Schaller (adelphi).
"Today we started at the Planetary Security Conference a process in order to focus on the interrelationship of adaptation on the one hand and peace building on the other hand. Our objective is for the next three years to summarize what are the challenges and options for assessment processes, the policy planning and programming and the implementation process. adelphi is facilitating is facilitating this process and what we try to do is to generate some insights what conflict sensitivity means in this very concrete context. So we are looking for good practices on the ground, especially in fragile regions and countries in order to show under what conditions adaptation is possible and can have a positive impact on the overall environment, including also the political environment."
